Your eyes looked empty,
Devoid of the happiness that lit up your world.
I couldn't help myself and ask:
What's wrong?
And I noticed your gaze,
Scrunching with distaste.
Your eyes held many emotions,
Crying out desperately to me-
Though your mouth pulled downwards
In a frown.
It's nothing-
You say.
Liar.
Don't lie to me.
I could see it through your body,
Despite the words you've said.
Pale as a ghost-
And as thin as a skeleton.
Dark shadows hung under your eyes-
And your gestures never felt so empty.
I can only hope that one day-
You'd turn and confide in me...
As you forced me to watch you walking away,
Your back turned to me.
This is the mistake I regret making.
You never turned to look back-
Until Death was hovering over you.
When you called for help,
I never answered.
